This customized board self-assessment tool was developed to assist independent schools in assessing the performance of their board of trustees and to identify areas where the board might improve its performance. The tool is based on the NAIS Principles of Good Practice for Trustees and includes a benchmark report allowing you to compare your scores to other schools that have also completed this assessment.
BoardSource is pleased to announce that we have updated the BSA for independent schools. The newly revised assessment now includes questions related to your board’s impact, culture, and diversity, inclusion, and equity. Your report will also feature benchmarking data, so you can see how your board is performing not only independently but compared to your peers in the sector. Unfortunately, this now means that the BSA for independent schools can no longer be customized. We sincerely believe the board assessment’s new features outweigh the loss of customization. Thank you!
