JOAN PAYNE

Joan Payne joined BoardSource in March 2014 after working contractually as the organization’s controller since summer 2012. As vice president of finance, Joan is responsible for all financial planning and strategy, as well as the day-to-day management of the organization’s finances and financial reporting. She also serves as the staff liaison to the board’s finance and audit committees as well as partners with the president & CEO and senior leadership team around financial modeling, planning, and policies. In addition to her responsibilities related to finance, Joan manages the strategic development and partnerships team, and  provides oversight to the member relations team.

Joan has a wide variety of experience including both public accounting and private industry, including a heavy emphasis in the nonprofit and real estate industries. Prior to joining BoardSource, she was most recently an audit manager with a local Maryland CPA firm where she managed all of the firm’s nonprofit audits.

Joan holds an MBA and a bachelor of science degree in business with a concentration in accounting from the University of Baltimore, and is a certified public accountant in the State of Maryland.
