Shelly L. Gardeniers is an independent consultant and board advisor specializing in governance and strategic decision-making. Drawing on her diversity of experience, she partners with governing boards to structure high-level discussions and support boards in achieving improvements in their governance practices.

During her career in the United States, United Kingdom and The Netherlands, Ms. Gardeniers has filled key roles in a number of industries. Her roles included serving as Head of Business Planning & Control/Market Research for Randstad Nederland n.v., Director of Capital Markets/Investor Relations Manager with Royal Ahold B.V., and Director of Inclusion & Employee Relations for Sara Lee/Douwe Egberts International b.v.

A citizen of the U.S. and The Netherlands, Ms. Gardeniers holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Affairs from Georgetown University and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University. She has served on the Board of Directors of regional and national organizations and is a member of the Leadership Maryland Class of 2014. In 2016, Ms. Gardeniers was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to the Maryland Public Commission, also serving on the Board of Directors of the MPT Foundation. In 2020, Ms. Gardeniers was appointed to the (Maryland) Board of Airport Zoning Appeals.
