About Margaret
Marnie Maxwell works with nonprofit organizations (both board and management staff) throughout the country in these key areas:
- Strategic planning
- Effective governance
- Business plan development
She also has been a faculty member of The Fund Raising School, a program of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, since 1990, and is a BoardSource Certified Governance Consultant. Marnie’s consulting work is focused on arts programs, education, youth development programs, foundations, libraries, and other cultural organizations.
Prior to her work as a consultant, she was Vice President for The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, one of the nation’s premier cultural institutions. Her museum experience includes leadership roles in strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, and earned income program development.
Marnie believes in “keeping it real” by practicing what she preaches as a board member of organizations she is passionate about. Her current involvements include the WFYI Foundation (central Indiana public media), the Indianapolis Art Center, and the Sisters of Providence Mission Advisory Board. She is a Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Indianapolis.
She received both a B.A. in journalism and an MBA in marketing from Indiana University.
