About Dave

Dave is a graduate of The Ohio State University and is a founding partner of Loring, Sternberg & Associates with over 25-years of nonprofit experience. He authored Fearless Fundraising for Nonprofit Boards (2nd edition) a best-seller among BoardSource publications.

Since 2000, Dave has been a member of the faculty at The Lilly School of Philanthropy at Indiana University’s Fund Raising School and is also the original author the course Purposeful Boards, Powerful Fundraising.

For The Fund Raising School he has taught Building the Annual Fund, Marketing for Fundraising, Managing the Capital Campaign, Principles and Techniques, Major Gifts; as well as numerous customized training programs nationally and internationally. He

In 2008 Dave was named a Senior Governance Consultant for BoardSource and has since facilitated hundreds of retreats board retreats across all subsectors as well as conducting governance assessments to help clients connect the dots between funding their missions and not sacrificing how to build a dynamic nonprofit board reflective of today’s environment.
